EDITORIAL COMMENT ON DEMOLITION CEREMONY INCIDENT

AN EDITORIAL COMMENT TO AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED AT THE RIVERVIEW APARTMENTS DEMOLITION CEREMONY ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND.

A person whom I have heard, has never lived in the Apartments and hadn't been back to Kingsport from her New England home in many years, actually tried to argue with the guest speaker from Congressman David Davis' office about who was getting to move into the new housing. She actually interrupted him WHILE HE WAS SPEAKING to the audience, and mind you, this was not a public forum situation.. I later learned, she had an exchange during the demolition itself with another of our longtime residents, some of it personal.. The forum she was seeking about housing, had already been addressed at several public meetings with residents long ago, but Saturday, she came across as a rabble-rouser and, from the comments I have heard, embarrassed everyone at the gathering. Luckily, her interruption was cut off very quickly. I will use this
email to publically apologize to everyone who attended and was subjected to her outdated questions. Her outburst was apparently planned on her part, but not on ours, catching program organizers by complete surprise. To his credit, it did not phase Congressman Davis' representative one bit. He handled it well, and moved on quickly, as we all did. I will not dignify your Douglass website with further comment on her actions, nor will it be part of the video program when I post it soon. But I WILL be watching for things like that in the future.

I, like many others in our community, have apologized to Mr. Reynolds for the outburst, but I am using this method to PUBLICALLY apologize on behalf on all the Riverview Apartment residents, who already HAD the answer to the question the person interrupted him to ask.
